Weekly Report - July 15, 2012

"All athletes are disciplined in their training." 1 Corinthians 9:25a (NLT)

This week, I kicked off my 12-week training regimen for the ESi Ironman 70.3 Augusta.  I took it pretty easy since I hadn't worked out much recently and didn't want to injure myself.  My "long bike" on Sunday was the highlight of the week because my wife--the soon-to-be Triathlete Mom--accompanied me.  It was her first true road ride, and she did a great job in light of that fact and the fact she was riding a heavy hybrid bike.  I can't wait to race together with her on July 28 in the Tom Hoskins Memorial Triathlon!

Reboot

Wow, it's been quite a while since my last post.  I injured my foot back in mid-March, which interrupted my training and left me with no workouts to include in my weekly reports.  That created negative momentum which ultimately led me to miss several months of blogging.

My family at the Columbia Downtown Triathlon

Since my injury, I've completed the Columbia Downtown Triathlon (during which my foot was still recovering), the Lake Murray Triathlon, and the 65-mile circuit of the Tour de Cure.    Next up is the Tom Hoskins Memorial Triathlon on July 28.  Two years ago, I completed my first triathlon in the first running of this event.  This year, my wife is running the race with me.  I am very excited about the fact that she will soon be The Triathlete Mom!
